Angry Ughhh Frustrated With Dr. Visit

Oh my god, the frustration I am feeling cannot be put into words.

Well, he came into the room, asked about the rash diagnosis from the
dermatologist took a copy of the diagnosis letter from the lab. Then he
started to play the dumb role. Oh he says I never heard of granuloma
annulare, then I had to proceed to tell him that it is seen in patients with
high inflammation in their bodies, and that she gave her a cortisone cream.
"Oh, " he says very blankly.

She has been getting blood work(CBC) every other month and he just took the
ana test after a year later. Then he has the audacity to tell her, "Oh, no you
just had the CBC in september, so we are going to do it every 6 MONTHS~~ now.
So I say Why doctor, don't you have to check her blood for diseases of LUpus?
Dr. Doodoo, says, Well, she is on Medicare/bcbs insurance and they will not pay
for too frequent blood tests, or preventative tests?????!!!!!!Have you ever heard
of something so stupid? First of all , should he be testing her more frequently?
Secondly, Cutting costs for him seems to be his first priority, and not the health
and wellbeing of his patients?!!!!!!!

So then after I told him about testing for lupus diseases, he said oh well we can
do it every 4 months then!!! that is still not frequent enough I would think?

Also if he read her chart correctly, she is on lipitor for high cholesterol so she
needs it every other month anyway!!! UHHHHHHggggHHHHhh!!!

I can not believe that he is more concerned with getting paid than the health
of his patients.

By the way the nurse is better than him, we told her our concerns, and she
says oh no you are due for blood work in december not february.

what a quack.

Oh Deb

I am so sorry that this Rheumatologist is such a butt head. You can't take your mom back to him if he isn;t going to help, thats for sure!! I hope that her other Rheumy appt will be quick so that she can be organized. She needs to be reviewed and have frequent blood work done during a flare!! That is so stupid. It's funny that he didn't know about that rash, even I KNOW ABOUT IT. I am no doctor, but smart I suppose! What an idiot. Just take a deep breath and leave him be. He is obviously a moron! There are lots of really bad Rheumy's out there.. your mom needs one that cares. Can the GP do frequent blood work to check her ANA etc? That should be easy for him to do. I am sending BIG hugs to you and mom!!!

I am so sorry Deb How frustrating hey? It is such a common thing though, for us to be treated like garbage or a "number" rather than a person. We pay their paychecks but they treat us SO shabbily. I hope that your mom will get that new Rheumy and have her flare get under control. I am thinking about you both.

~Luv, Dana
