Dana - Test results

Hi,

Just wanted to give an update on recent test results. The only postive results were:

ANA positive
ESR - 42
C-Reactive Protein elevated
Aldolase was below normal 0.9

Definently have inflammation going on but not sure from what. Do you know what the low Aldolase means? I know it's a muscle enzyme. Doesn't seem to be Lupus though.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Debbie

Re: Dana - Test results

Hey Debbie!

Did your ANA show a pattern? (speckled, etc) WOW your Sed rate is really up there right now, definitely some sort of inflammatory thing going on! With your symptoms and this blood work it will definitely get you some answers in time. Did that Rheumy call you back?? What a bone head if he didn't. Sheesh!!

The Aldolase test is a muscle enzyme basically, you were right on that one. The test measures the amount of muscle damage (in some rheumatic diseases, damaged muscles release certain enzymes into the blood). These tests also can show how effective medication has been in reducing inflammation that causes muscle damage.

With you, I wouldn't think twice about that one, because your level was only slightly lower than normal. If it was high, the above things that I mentioned would explain it Hope this finds you well, I hope that the Rheumy gets his crap together here!! Love ya

Re: Dana - Test results

Hi Dana,

ANA was speckled pattern. No the Rheumy has not called me yet. I was hoping he would. I have an appointment with him next week. I'm hoping with these test results the Doc's will come to some conclusion about what's going on with this old body. I've been in some type of major flare lately. My neck and jaws have both been very painful and stiff. OUCH!!!!! I'm wondering if maybe I have PMR. We'll see. Let you know.

Merry Christmas Dana.

Debbie
