Question "Natural" alternative to Plaquenil??

I "know" I need some meds, but cannot tolerate Plaquenil. Wondering if anyone has come across something "natural" that mimics it.

Thanks & LIGHT*********carole

Re: "Natural" alternative to Plaquenil??

Carole,
Just curious, did you try the generic (hydroquix...)or brand name Plaquenil? I couldn't tolerate the generic, but the brand name has a coating for the stomach. The generic was awful on my stomach.

Have "no" clue, as it was years ago that I tried it, but thanks for that info.

Re: "Natural" alternative to Plaquenil??

Hi, Carole.

When I started Plaquenil, my GI system was in an uproar. But it usually was anyway... I didn't realize, until I saw Dr. Wallace's book and found the stats, plus my rheumie telling me much the same, that many people with lupus (something like 40% or more) "present" with GI problems.

Did you take the Plaquenil long? Meaning long enough to start to sort out whether your problems were mainly from the disease or from the med?

Anyway, alas, I know of no "natural" substitutes. Hoping you find some good ideas soon. Best wishes, Vee
