Swollen Feet - Help!!!

Hi everyone,
I need help! My feet have been swollen - like fluid-filled - for about 5 days. It's different from the usual Lupus/RA swelling. They are actually pitting. I have never had this before. I am still taking Prednisone but am down to 20mg/day for 3 months, Plaquenil 400mg/day for 7 months, and started Methotrexate injections over 1 month ago. Could this be related to the Metho or an innocent side effect of it? My socks don't even fit. Has anyone experienced this? My fingers are tight, too, but not as bad as my ankles/feet.
Please help, I don't want to go to the rheumy again if I don't have to!
Leslie

Re: Swollen Feet - Help!!!

Dear Leslie,

You could at least CALL your rheumie, much as you don't really want to...?

Pitting doesn't sound, ummm, "right" (meaning you don't want to see that). Not that edema is what you want to see, either. So I'd just call, if I were you, really. Make sure all organs, etc. are behaving as you need them to...

With a big hug to you, Vee (P.S. I hope you post an update when you can!)

Re: Swollen Feet - Help!!!

Hi Vee,
I went ahead and called and he said it'smost likely from the steroids but to keep taking them. I have to cut the salt out of my diet until I wean off of them. So, elevate after work and no salt - I didn't have to go in...thank goodness! Hope this helps! He thinks it's part of a flare, too.
How are you Vee?
Love,
Leslie

Exclamation Re: Swollen Feet - Help!!!

Hi LM HART. I have been experiencing the same thing with my feet that is. My left foot swole up like a balloon last week and it was stinging and very painful. There was fever in my ankle where there was also much bruising and the ends of my toes and feet were cold and numb. I have been seeing a rheumatologist and I am pending blood test results now, so I won't know for sure what it is that is wrong with me until next week when I get the results back. They think it is a type of RA. But it could be lupus, or something related. My ANA came back positive 1:40 but my rheumatoid factor was neg. They also checked for substantial inflammation factors and I am high in that aswell. I have been taking prednisone for the pain and swelling to go down and also I have been put on biaxin. The prednisone has helped so much! I have been on it now for about a week steady and my swelling and pain are much better. I can actually wear socks and shoes now, loosly of course. Does this sound like what all happened to you?? I am anxious to know...I didn't think anyone had this problem but me.
