Hiya help0001,
The H will already know of your symptoms and so on. He/she may ask a few further questions, but the overall discussions and diagnosing with your GP will already be in the files.
The H is as I have said before, a blood specialist. If there is something that your GP is not too clear on for any reason, then the H will be able to help in this way. It does not mean that something dreadful is going on, it is that some doctors are not specialists in every field, and your GP might just not be too clear on something.
The H will give a much more thorough picture to your GP who can then make an arrangment for you to go back to your rheumatologist, and with all the results in front of him/her, the rheumatologist can then prescribe medication and treatment for whatever has been determined is wrong with you.
A positive ANA is only an indicator which points in several possible directions, and it might be that further investigation and analysis may be needed. It is not something that goes "up or down" with treatment. It is used, as I have said before, as a testing procedure in lupus.
All of the work done by the H will then go to the doctor who asked for the consultation in the first place, then the results are known and treatment can start. I know you are worried, but as I have said to you on a few occasions, it is really great that you are seeing an H, they are the best people to deal with all of the blood work that needs doing.
Take care and good luck for Wednesday.
