peticheal rash/positive ANA=??

Hi!
I posted this on the immune issues board but thought I would try here as well. Any feedback would be wonderful!

Here is my post:

Last July I got piticheal marks on my skin where ever something brushed it. If I scratched and itch, bumped into something, clothes rubbed, etc, I would have pitcheal marks everywhere.. blood red spots under my skins. I still get it even now, although last summer it was the worst its ever been since.

I have an underactive thyroid. I have a positive ANA. I saw a rheumatologist and after the first round of tests the tol met hat it was not impossible but getting harder to pinpoint lupus as the cause of this stuff.

I have not been back to see him since December because my daughter got sick and that took my attention for months (I know, I should not ignore my own situation, but thats just how it played out).

I also saw a dermitologist who biopsied a spot. Basically they both said they could treat my rash sympotms but the side effects of the drug were more serious than this rash itself (doesnt hurt at all or even itch).

My concern is that its been a year and I still get this rash. Surely this isnt normal.

Is this type of rash somethign that is common wiht autoimmune disorders? Has anyone else had a similar experience.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Kerry

Re: peticheal rash/positive ANA=??

Hi Kerry I think I posted to this question on another board (fibromyalgia?) Anyway I too get the peticheal looking things from scratching and lately I have itched everywhere. Veej or someone else can probably give you much better info than I can. Good Luck, keep us posted.

Re: peticheal rash/positive ANA=??

Hi, Kerry. Yes, this rash is common. At least a couple of other people on this board besides myself have spoken up about it. There is a discussion thread maybe a month or two ago where we talk about these tiny red dots under the skin that seem to pop up if you even blow on the skin hard (lol). Do a search for that thread. Seems to be a symptom of vasculitis in the blood vessels, though it shows up on the skin and makes you think it is a rash, but it really is not. it just shows through the skin. A bit off-topic, it does sometime seem that lupus has my skin constanly at war. On any given day, strange pimples, bright red whelps that look as if I have scratched myself badly (people ask: who scratched you up like that?), burning skin, and itchy elbows, knees, and ankles just about drive me batty. And any bruise you get seems to take forever to heal and leaves a dark shadow, where my skin didn't used to do that at all.

Having a lupus blip of some sort today. Ears inflammed and itching, anus itching, scalp itching, throat scratchy, skin all over just plain old itchy. This too shall pass. Perserverance.

Re: peticheal rash/positive ANA=??

I have had the itching ears and they feel like they are on fire, but not to the touch. Also the all over itch and especially the back of my neck. This has been happening since last Thursday, and I have felt pretty rough since then also. Like you say I know this too shall pass, and I can't wait till it does.
