Has anyone experienced flank or kidney pain on only one side but without any fever? I have been diagnosed with RA and Fibromyalgia, although lupus is still a question. I've had several kidney infections with some stones about 3 years ago, just before getting my referral to a rheumatologist and then later my dx's. No kidney 'involvement' since then - but when I had those, I always had a high fever.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi. Which side is your pain on? Do you keep up with your OB/GYN annual check-ups?

I've had episodes of forming "grit", but only once to the point of total blockage. Like you say, this made me wildly (& unmistakably) sick with pain, fever & profuse vomiting.

On a dye test, drs. also found a lipoma on my left ueter, where it exits the kidney---but they did not think it was anything to overworry.

Have you asked your various drs. about this?
