Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with SLE in 2001 but I had it for much longer. The ANA was positive with a speckled pattern, a C reactive protein was elevated as was a sed rate. The main problems are intermittent and include joint pain, fatigue, IC treated with DMSO, muscle pain, malaise and one time in the 1990s I lost quite a bit of hair which grew back. Since I have been dealing with this since 1995 I usually treat problems with NASIDS or rest and I treat them myself. Lately, a new issue has occured. It hurts like hell when I breathe. It feels heavy like when I was a smoker ( quit) and smoked too many cigaretts and it is painful. Should I see a doctor over this or is it one of those intermittent lupus issues that will resolve with NASAIDS or on its own. Its been going on for about 3 months.
Hi Nik-
I agree. This could very well be costochondritis OR many other things (pleurisy, or a whole host of other lupus complications). Seems like 3 months is long enough to suffer with this.
I say, be on the safe side and tell your rheumy!
yup I get that the joints in my ribs swell around the breast bone area and it hurts and i was put on nsaids to bring down the swelling I was also told there was a viral infection in the area .take care and get well Jenny
