I HAVE HAD LUPUS FOR 5YRS NOW. AND I HAVE ALL THE FUN THINGS THAT GO WITH IT. BUT THE PAST FEW MONTHS, WHEN EVERYTIME MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE SEX, THE VERY NEXT DAY LIKE CLOCK WORK I GO INTO A FLARE. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME. IS THIS HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE??????? OR IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGG PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! THANK YOU. MICHELLE
I am young yet and have not yet had sex, but I can tell you that when I used to make out with my boyfriend...the pressure of his body on top of mine often caused problems the next day....in that the pain was often excruciating... I don't know if that helps...
Well, gee, I haven't had sex since I've had lupus.
However, as a nurse (disabled), and as a lupus patient, I can tell you that the autonomic effects of sex could definitely induce a flare. Your heart is racing, parts of you are flushing and having all sorts of reactions, you're breathing hard... what lupoid body in its right mind would not have something to say the next day?
Imagine sex as a workout. Now, you see the connection?
How to deal with that emotionally and relationally, I shall leave to those more in tune with that.

I would sometimes have seizures, or be near immoblie the night of, or the morning after, my neurologist said it was estrogen that I was making, the raise in hormones was the culprit, it triggered some of my worst flares. My period also triggered flares as well, and joint pain.
