Just a little from me today. Been absent for a while, a week actually. Had another cardiac incident. Minor heart attack this time, but still threw me for six. My husband and I had not been made aware even though I had had a triple bypass, I still had coronary artery disease. Nobody even suggested this to us nor did they make it clear after my surgery. I was extremely lucky this time because my heart muscle wasn't damaged and also I was actually at the hospital when it happened. I dread to think what the outcome might have been had I been at home on my own as I normally am. It wasn't because of anything I had or hadn't done right or wrong, it just happened.
My heart surgery was done for me in another part of the country in a hospital that specialises in heart issues. None of the staff had much knowledge of much else, and even though they were extremely good at what they did, I just wish I had had an inkling of what still could happen.
I felt that I needed to make you all aware of my latest episode, and to say as I always do please be insistent and get a regular heart check done if you are able. Push and push is my normal thing to say on this board and after this latest incident for me, I will be even more on the ball.
Please, please my friends ensure tht you are checked regularly for any signs of cardiac issues, especially if you have APS too. Not trying to scare you all, but I am here to share my own experreinces which span a very long time as you know, and I hope that I can help you by sharing of these things. We must fight to be looked after properly.
Take care everyone.

Dear GW, I'm so sorry to see your post---but very glad that you didn't have heart muscle damage & that you were in the hospital when it occurred. My thoughts are with you! And you do a good turn when you remind us to get cardiac checkups. Will watch for your further updates. With a huge hug, Vee
Goldenwings,
Glad to hear you're okay. Although it was a minor heart attack, it's to be taken very seriously. At least it happened right in the hospital, so you were in good hands. Good advice about watching the cardiac issues if you have APS. I have both APS and lupus and am monitored every 3 months by a cardiologist. Do you have APS and is that what caused your heart attack? Rest up and feel better fast.
I asked my neuro dr (prof). If the heart muscle linked or similar to the body muscle? Cardio told me, my heart muscle is getting old! (I'm only 47 last year when he told me). He thinks for a little while and said "No"! Is he honest?
Goldenwings, so sorry to hear about your heart scare, but glad that you were right there at the hospital to get taken care of. The news that you have no heart muscle damage is so great! Please take care of yourself, but sneak online to chat with us when you can. I don't see how being on the computer on this board, where you have always seemed like such a positive soul and been helpful to many who come here seeking answers, could be considered stressful, just the opposite! This board is a constructive and useful outlet for us all and I hope that you will continue to stick around to give us the perspective of someone who has had lupus for many years and is still kicking. Best to you.
Thanks for your good wishes and thoughts. Just to explain a little though if I may. As I don't have much upper body strength anyway because of other disabilities, the stressful part of it is concentrating so hard to use my upper bits and I also need to focus so much at the moment as I am having cns involvement so things are not so easy. I have to have my postings edited and so on, which is such a pain in the ----.
I will be back and raring to go soon I hope.
Take care

I am so sorry to hear about your recent experience.. My thoughts and prayers are with you. thank you for posting and reminding all of us that keeping on top of our cardiac health is extremely important.. I think like everything in life we tend to get a little lazy or procrastinate when it comes to our health Especially when it's people like us that already go to the doctor 10 or more times a month.. It's so tiresome the last thing we want to do is add to the pot.. I hope that you have a swift and successful recovery.
