Hi, Amy. I agree that ongoing pain is truly a huge drag. Over the last 5 years, I've tried Celebrex & Vioxx; but with all that's come out about those (esp. Vioxx), I'm now glad neither did the trick for me.
Now I just use OTC's---Aleve or Advil. But I really suspect people may differ pretty widely on how they respond to the vrs. meds. Has your dr. made suggestions? And maybe other will chip in soon, too.
I gave up high impact exercise some years ago & stick with yoga & Pilates, when I have the necessary energy, that is. But when I'm in big pain, I don't do even those. Shoulders & elbows are my killers. For some reason, I can move through hip & knee pain, but shoulder/elbow can stop me in my tracks when they are bad. Anyway, GOOD LUCK! Vee
I have ra and fibro plus two herniated discs. Now the doctor suspects I may have fibro and will perform some tests when he gets back from vacation. (just my luck) I cannot believe ya'll are surviving or trying to survive on Otc medication. I don't see how in the world you are doing it. I take presciption pain medication and right now since I have been taken off my methotrexate injections and begun taking plaquenil I am taking the maximum dosage, but the doctor said I would get wore pain wise for a while. Why do you not take prescription pain meds. I am not being nosy, just curious.
