scared......

I was diagnosed w/ Lupus (SLE) in November 05. I have seen a dr, but he seems very scattered. He doesn't know what he's put me on (ie Prednisone...REAL bad reaction & Phequinil....allergic rash reaction). The drs so booked up it's very hard to see him and when I do see him he only talks about the drugs he will put me on instead of Lupus and what I can do for myself. I think I'm lucky b/c I seem to only have really bad joint pain and fatigue which I take 500mg Neproxen in the am w/ I think it's 200mg of Medtrol. But I'm scared out of my skin wondering what might my future hold.
Thank you for any help or guideness.

Re: scared......

JAC61, Lupus is so complex! Maybe it's better to read some, then hit your dr. with specific questions. There are hardcovers in most libraries & bookstores by two Americans, (1) Dr. Daniel Wallace, and (2) Dr. Robert Lahita.

Also, there are some fine links available from this Board. (1) Open the "sticky post" at the top of the thread list, the one about test results. The link you'll find there has a whole series of articles by a top East Coast rheumie. (2) Also, the "Resouces" tab above can take you into vrs. medical-info sites. e.g., choose MedLine Plus, then Health Conditions, then Rheumatology, then Lupus.

Since reacting to Prednisone & Plaquenil, are you taking any "disease modifying" lupus drugs, or just pain relievers? Was the Plaquenil generic or name-brand? I've read various people reporting that they reacted to the generic (hydroxychloroquine) but did better on the brand-name. Bye for now, Vee

Re: scared......

thanks!!! I've done some reading on the internet, but I'll try what you suggest.
The Medrol is a steroid. I'm not thrilled about it, but it's not giving me some type of reaction so I'll take it.
