This question drives me crazy....There were a couple of people in my dept that have been out sick with the flu....I didn't come in direct contact with them though (that I can remember). But now I ache all over and I feel kind of feverish. How do I know if it's a Lupus flare or the plain old flu? And then of course there's the worry that if it IS the flu that the flu can actually flare up the Lupus...Then I'll have both going on...I can't win with this one people..lol..I have had this illness for 16 years and I still can't tell the difference. I got my flu shot too back in October by the way....Can anyone here shed some light on this for me?
I have had the flu since having Lupus, and there was no doubt was it was......I hurt REALLY bad all over and had a high fever. I could barely even walk.
The flu is, by definition, a respiratory virus. If you don't have any respiratory symptoms, then it isn't the flu. (That misnomer called the "stomach flu" doesn't really exist--it's really viral gastroenteritis and isn't related to the flu at all).
Thank you SO much for the info! I'm having a flare. I have no respiratory symptoms. I'm going to be starting prednisone for about a week. Thanks again for the info. Now that you say that, it so makes sense....
