Other symptoms,Exaustion all the time, body pain all over, not just where arthitis is,Overall feeling of "not feeling well"Face began turning red across nose and both cheeks aproximatly 2 years ago, sometimes the whole face turns red,but cheeks are red constantly.Easily catch flu/colds /viruses now.My family history has Fibromialga and Lupus in Aunt and Grandparents.I am seeing a neww Doctor, who ran blood tests, and a Urine test.I get the results on Friday 5/5.

Re: Are these Symptoms of Lupus?

Hi there,
I would ask your rheumy to check for lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Let us know what they say! Symptoms are so similar...
Keep your chin up...

Re: Are these Symptoms of Lupus?

I am sorry for your pain . Do ask your Doctor to do tests for you. If you are not satisfied with what he says or comes up with, then you keep going until you find someone who makes you feel at ease.

I had to go through several different Doctor's before I could find one that knew about lupus and had some empathy (I am not diagnosed with lupus though just some tough symptoms and a positive ana and thats why some doctors didn't want to fool with me). It's a very rough time for you I'm sure but you hang in there and trust your instincts.

Re: Are these Symptoms of Lupus?

Oh BTW-have them test for many things. I have a friend that has lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. She had RA first as a teenager and later lupus. Not that you have either of them, but my point is sometimes you can have more than one thing that makes symptoms seem confusing.

She is doing fine and her symptoms are under control right now even with both autoimmune disorders. She takes her medicine and all is well considering what she has been through, and I am sure we have all been through something.

Red face Re: Are these Symptoms of Lupus?

I was wondering if I could get your opinion
Hi I am new here and wonder if anyone can help? I can't seem to get a correct answer and my friend that has MS said this sounds like her symptoms. Here goes, I had a baby Feb of 2005 and developed HELLP. Almost died they say. Haven't felt good since then. Kept going back and forth to the doctor and got brushed off. Went to Nashville for a family trip and ended up in the hospital with an unknown illness. I couldn't feel my arms or legs and was having diarrhea every 20 minutes. SEVERE abdominal pain. Noone ever came to a conclusion. Went more times to the doctor, finally one doctor order a rheumy profile. Came back positive ANA. Sent to rheumy doc. He repeated the test and 40 more. ANA was real positive and sed rate was off but everything else was fine. I have had a lot of bad things happen to my body here lately. I was diagnosed with raynauds phenom.
Here are some symptoms, maybe you can shed some light:
my hair is coming out (but not in patches, all over)
nausea and diarrhea (already diagnosed with IBS)
extreme muscle weakness especially in my arms and legs
cramps in my legs and especially in my arms (feel like they are drawing up)
bad shoulder pain (discovered a knot there), now told I have tendinitis
extreme fatigue
have on and off abdominal pain
my hands and feet go to sleep, feels like a crawling sensation on my face and hands and feet.
headaches
have cramps in my hands and all veins are visible, weird
feel foggy headed and have dizziness
been diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension. I could go on with symptoms but can anyone shed some light? My rheumy recently put me on prednisone and is sending me to physical therapy for my shoulder. My ana came back again with a 1:1280 titer.

Re: Are these Symptoms of Lupus?

You have done just about all you can do. The worst part about Lupus is it mimics so many other diseases, it often gets forgotten about, and checked only as a last resort.

I was diagnosed with the systemic kind at 14. Took 3 weeks though, and it had every rheumy and cardiologist at UMC baffled. They even thought it was Lymes disease or whatever. Then they did the workup, and that was it.

I have been in remission for 15 years, but still experience, chronic joint pain, chronic back pain. I never had the face rash though, I though that was only with Discoid Lupus?

You guys know there are 2 kinds of Lupus right?

Discoid Lupus, which causes rashes and other things, but overall will not kill you.

Systemic Lupus, which affects one of 5 internal organs, and can either occur with rashes or without. This kind is deadly and has to be monitored very carefully.
