Cool Some relief!!

I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2006 after my six pulmonary Embolisms. In one month I gained 80lbs due to prednisone. Unfourtanetly it shut down my adrenal system. Well here it is 2007 and I can't get the weight off. Because of this I ate whatever I wanted. Didn't gain anymore weight....BUT I caused a Lupus flare fr about 9 months. In the last three weeks I have given up eating fried foods, dairy, caffiene, red meat, sugar and flour. I feel great. Now the weight hasn't moved, but I can hand;e it if I am not crying because of the pain.

I went from 160lbs to 225 lbs. Very frustrating. Any ideas as how to get this prednisone weight off?

Thanks
Christina

Re: Some relief!!

Hi, I am new to lupus (just got the dx), but thought this might help.
My son has type 1 diabetes and could not get his sugar down until he got off wheat gluten (and oats and barley) completely. When I went on that diet with him I lost about 25 pounds. I felt so much better too!
It's not easy to go gluten free but I would not go back. There are some good websites and Whole Foods/Wild Oats have lots of gluten free things. Millet bread is a great alternative.
