Does anyone here have this problem? I have ulcers in my stomach and absolutely cannot take any anti-inflammatorys. I can only take Tylenol, and this sucks... anything that can be done?>

Re: Need anti-inflammatory but canít take them

Hello there miyu,

Yes, I am with you on this. I cannot take NSAID's at all because of the medications I am on for other problems I have alongside my SLE.

Have you tried acupuncture and things like that ? Just curious.

thats an idea, but I'm worried about the cost. what do you do to start? do you just go in when symptoms are at their worst? they can treat many symptoms right? of if I got for inflammatory, should I jsut stick to that one thing?

Re: Need anti-inflammatory but canít take them

I have the same problem. I have tried eating foods that have the same effect as anti-inflamatory drugs. The one that helped the most was omega 3. It seemed to help for awhile. Now my doctor has started treating me with drugs like lyrica. It has side effects and doesn't relieve all the pain, but it helps some. It also makes me a little dizzy, and tired. So I am not really satisfied, but I am not sure there is a magic pill I hope that you can find something that will work for you!

Re: Need anti-inflammatory but canít take them

Hiya miyu,

Of course I am not medically trained and offer this support as a person with SLE.

Yes it can cost a lot for this type of treatment, and also it might not be the thing for you. If you want to get more information, look in the directory under acupuncturists and make a note of the qualifications they need to have. Look at the feedback info they have too, to get an idea of how other patients fare.

Normally you have a course of treatments that can for a lot of people be a preventative measure. Others can get great relief from their symptoms, but of course it depends on what you are presenting with. This will all be discussed with a reputable therapist before any treatment is discussed or started.

Some doctor practices even advocate complementary therapies such as this Maybe it is worth asking ?

Whatever you do, you must be sure to ask your doctor what he/she thinks and get their opinion before starting alternative treatments. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Take care.
