So, I've had these small red spots - lots of them - in several places on my body for 4 - 6 weeks now. My doc first blew it off as folliculitis or hemangiomas, but I know differently. In fact, they're getting worse (i.e. more of them & redder aka more noticeable).
On top of this, I've had symptoms like:
Easy bruising (i.e. lots of bruises, seem to happen for no reason)
Badly Swollen - sometimes tender - Lymph Nodes for about 3 MONTHS
L Side Pain
SEVERE Exhaustion
Weak (more than normal)
Normal Joint Pain Worse
Normal Memory Problems Worse
Pale Episodes
Nausea
Sometimes Dizzy
...and so on
I'll tell ya now. I've been dx w/ SLE (lupus), but I wonder if I wasn't mis-dx. I'm wondering if that isn't a possibility right now OR if this is some kind of complication.
I suppose it is possible that you are misdiagnosed, but your symptoms sound pretty typical for sle. I too have had/have petechia. Some of the spots on my arm have been there for about 1 1/2 years. Also, if you tested positive for ant-dsdna......that pretty much seals the whole Lupus DX. Could it be that you are flaring/getting ready to flare ?
Hey I have had the same red spots and very easy bruising. I had an episode where after going to the chiropractor, my back looked like someone beat me. My husband took pictures so the doctor could see. As soon as he saw the pics he said it was Koebner's disease.
I know it is very frustrating. My seven year old sometimes will see different marks and get very upset wondering what is wrong.
I hope this helps.
Blessings!

What the heck is Koebner's disease? Does it have other similar symtoms like lupus?
Dear Hiz- have you had your platelet count checked? One of the criteria for a lupus dx is thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) which will manifest as easy bruising and petechiae. This was my first "symptom" way back in the day. I had a frightfully low platelet count and looked like I had been beaten. The petechiae were all over, especially where gravity was a factor (like my hands and feet). I had dots in the white part of my eyes and in my mouth. It might be worth getting a CBC? ask your doc.

Any thoughts?
Hi. I have had the red spots on my lips for a long time, possibley ten years. Then the spots began to spread to my hands and face. I have swollen hands usually worse in the morning and I have shiny raised places on my fingers behind my nails. This and other factors such as chronic fatigue, arthritis, stomach issues, heart and lung minor issues and a few other things led my rheumatolgist to diagnose Scleroderma. I do not have easy bruising.
my doctor says that Koebner's disease affects the vascular system and it stems from lupus. My lupus is very rare in it's presentations according to my dr.
I would get a cbc and have your doctor check your platelet count. The bruising and red marks can be signs of low platelets and that can be treated, sometimes they use prednisone. Do you have a hematologist?

I have a quick question, when you mention a low platelet count, are you talking about below the normal ranges, or low within the normal range. I have some petechaie off and on on my fingers and fingertips, and have weird and easy bruising as well, and my platelets are generally in the low end of the range but still in range (say 172 when low is 150) The range is quite wide (I can't remember the units right now - sorry), something like 150-450.
