I"m 55 and was diagnosed in May of this year, and I don't have the "lupus "rash. Well let me qualify that by saying that last month I spent 4 hours at the beach in the sun and developed a rash on my arms that lasted about 4 days. But other then that I have never had the rash that a lot of other people seem to have with lupus.

Hi, J. In his lupus hardcover, Dr. Wallace says that 60% to 70% of people with lupus have "skin complaints" at some point in time. I'm just a patient, but I read this to mean that 30% to 40% do NOT have skin complaints at any time. Take good care, Vee
Everyone with lupus has different symptons. It is hard to find someowne who will have the same exact symptoms as another. I was diagnose with lupus 4 years ago and the only reason why I found out that I had lupus was because I had some lupus rashes on my arms and chest. After they found out that I had lupus they put me on prednisone which helps with the outbreaks.
If you are having lupus rashes and on prednisone the medication will help.
I was dx'd with SLE about 5 years ago. I never had the classic butterfly rash or any rash other than sun rashes. I did however have lesions one in particular at my temple. It was just a flat painless discolored (brownish) area at my temple. The MD was sure it was nothing but my husband insisted on a biopsy so I had the biopsy and it turned out to be "weird" so they sent the sample to a specialist. I turned out to be what they called a lupus lesion. Unfortunatly I have developed a large flat discolored area just below my right cheek. They look like brown age spots. I am 39 I don't want to look like I have age spots I am having enough trouble dealing with the fact that in a few months I turn 40. Anyway I hae lots of different strange symptoms but the lesion may be something of interest to someone here. Good luck.
I have been Dx with connective tissue disease which in my opinion is looking more like lupus every day. My Dr. said it may be lupus however she is not diffinitive. I have been on Plaquenil since May and have had good benefit. I am however getting these weird patch like itchy rashes on my neck and different parts of my body are itchy lately. When I am tired the neck rash seems more apparent. I have had a biopsy of my neck rash and am awaiting the results.... Does anyone have similar symptoms??
