Okay, I'm 13 and an african american and for like a few months now, I've been having abdominal pains in my left side. They are sharp and it feels like someone is repeatedly stabbing me... the longest it has lasted for is about 45 secs to a 1 min. Also, this week I've been experiencing some pain in my right knee. Just like the abdomen pain, it comes and goes.
My parents think it's gas but gas doesn't last as long as this pain has been lasting.
Please help because I'm really scared and I don't know what to do.

If you're having bouts of abdominal pain then you should probably see your doctor. I'm just not understanding why you think you have lupus based on this and knee pain. *shrug*

I agree with Sassafrass...having short term pain in one knee and abdominal cramp lasting a minute or so is not a sign you have lupus. If you are concerned ask your mom to take you to the doctor and then discuss your concerns with the dr. I am sure you will put your mind to rest. At 13 your body has alot of changes which would easily explain what you are describing.

Hi. There are three "sticky posts" ( = permanent informational posts) at the top of the thread list, with info on lupus. In lupus, there tends to be a fair amount going on, with at least some of it pretty narrowly defined problems, per those lists. For these reasons, I agree with the others that it seems like a pretty big stretch to think "lupus" based on the several things you mentioned... But I'm no dr., to put in mildly! Do you maybe have people in your family with lupus, or friends, which puts it in your mind quickly?
