What are common flareups?

Hi. Can you please tell me what are some common flareups of Lupus. My sister was was just diagnosed, and we are wondering what to expect. Thank you!

Re: What are common flareups?

Kitty, hi. Flares can vary so much person to person, in the same way that the disease itself has a very wide range. i.e., some people remain relatively mild, while others have internal organ involvement. Minimally, though, fatigue & pain are probably high on the "greatest hits" list. There are several good hardcovers that cover the subject thoroughly. Look for Dr. Daniel Wallace &/or Dr. Robert Lahita: their books are in most libraries & bookstores.

Is your sister on medication? On a strict schedule for medical follow-ups? Hope so! Best wishes to you both. Sincerely, Vee

Hi VeeJ,

Thanks for the info and book suggestions. As far as I know, she has an appointment with a Rheumotologist sometime this week. I also steered her to this site so she can read about everyone's experiences and gain some knowledge and advice. I myself have been doing some reading because I really had no clue what Lupus was when she told me about it.
