Weird Symptoms - Lupus Message Board

i took the 6 day prednisone pack last week because my doctor thinks i might have lupus. I felt really good on the prednisone (I took my last dose Saturday). This week I've been having really weird symptoms since I stopped the prednisone:

First my equilibrium was off...like I was having trouble sitting in a chair (the floor felt like it was tilting), then acne - I'm breaking out like a teenager! I also saw red numps all over my upper back on Monday, but they were gone on Tuesday. I have two ulcers in my mouth under my tongue. I gained 5 pounds in a week. And last night my thumb 'froze'. It felt tight and tingly and stayed in an extended position. I pushed it down trying to get it to 'work right' and it bounced back up to the position it was froze in. It stopped after a while, but the tingling continued. It's doing it today too on and off.

Do these sound like normal things that happen after taking a 6-day prednisone pack? Are these symptoms of lupus? I'm really perplexed about all of these strange issues this week.

acne, weight gain and possible mouth sores could be prednisone. The mouth sores could also be a lupus thing. Equilibrium, and the thumb thing I don't know. Oh and the back break out could be contributed to prednisone but then it went away in one day.....so not sure about that.

I was on Prednisone for 3 months - did the weaning process and didn't have any problems. It sure made me feel better, didn't have any weight gain either. The only thing was, it made me meaner than a snake!!! You can't just stop taking Prednisone, it will effect your adrenal gland, thyroid and a lot of other things.

watoozie thanks for the giggle..... meaner than a snake....I love it! Like you no weight gain for me either, and I am not mean either. Although you could maybe get an argument from my hubby sometimes about that.

Overall my mood has been worse since I stopped it (stopped it following doctors directions). I've noticed that I'm more aggitated this week.
