Lupus and MRI

Can Lupus show up on an MRI as lesions? A friend of mine had an MRI and they found lesions and her blood work was positive for Lupus. They are doing a LP to rule out other things...

Re: Lupus and MRI

Just curious...there is no specific blood test for lupus, so do you know what blood tests were positive in your friend's case? Also, I'm not a dr., but aren't lesions found typically is MS?

Hope you find out soon and that your friend gets some relief quickly.
Take care.

Re: Lupus and MRI

Yes I think it was her ana and anti smith levels.

Also apparently (the neuro said this) lupus can sometimes go hand in hand with MS. The neuro said it could be the lupus on the mri showing up but also said MS can cause the lupus? Odd.

Re: Lupus and MRI

Interesting discussion. My mother has Lupus. I have Multiple Sclerosis. Lupus is the next step I'll be investigating with my neurologist to see if I have Lupus co-existing with MS.

If anything comes of that investigation, I'll be sure to let you folks know
