Extremely High Calcium

I got a call from my new doctor today and my blood work shows that my calcium levels are through the roof. This calls for more blood work and tests for parathyroid disease.

Reading up on hyperparathyroidism, it appears that it's caused by a tumor and has to be surgically removed. It can be cancer, but most of the time it's not. I was wondering if anybody else has had this? Is it possible that this is a secondary disease caused by my lupus?

I'm seriously concerned and scared right now.

Tricia
