My 15 yr old who has a history of kidney stones {she has a congenital kidney problem and had surgery 3 yrs ago} has been getting a weird red rash on her face. It comes at odd times. It will be slightly raised , red hot{literally} and itchy. It is across her cheeks and nose. I took a picture of it for her Derm Dr and she is going to try to get her in. Her arms were also itchy. Mary also has Raynauds and tested Pos for APS like I do.Her Throid was just checked and is fine as she is losing hair by the tons.. Another weird symptom is nose bleeds although this could be allergy related?
No it's not that.
She might wake up with it on A sunday morning 3 weeks ago and it will be gone by the next day. Then on Fri of the following week it comes back{examples} again. Then maybe She might come home from school on Mon the following week. No new foods, medicines, make-ups etc. She and I have been over everything. She did get a weird clear bubbly rash on her chest in early Feb , I remember this was exactly around Fri the 13th! She is not running a fever, it is only 99.7-100.3, the drs say this is NOT a fever. I say not as I say it IS but they tell me NO. I say if you have a low grade fever like this every day, then you will feel like crap. And she has had a LGF like this for about 3 yrs every since she had her kidney surgery.
Hi, The rash you described sounds like what happens with me. I have SLE and all the worrisome symptoms that come along with it, for example the Malar or Butterfly rash. I will wake up and my face will be fine and then a couple of hours later, I notice that the rash has appeared. Mine is sometimes red and other times white, itchy and raised. The sun and a flare-up of SLE are what most times I have noticed, when the rash appears but heat/cold and or UV lights will also contribute to it. The amount of time it lasts, is alwayz different (from a few minutes to weeks). It can be any of these things or absolutely nothing at all that causes the rash.
I have a low grade fever almost all the time and CKD (chronic kidney disease). I can deal with LGF except when I have to change my sheets in the middle of the night because of night sweats. I had a rash on one of my shoulders but that one felt like rubbing a piece of sandpaper and it became hairy and after a couple of months, it just went away by itself. Raynaud's and APS come along with my having Lupus also.
I hope I was able to help you and that you find out what is causing your daughters rash.
Thanks,
it happened to her this SAt , after her tumbling class, kind of like gymnastics only it is geared for cheerleaders. She is 15 and in HS and on Varsity so must keep up her skills and get new ones as well.
She came out looking like death and very ill. Her pain was bad and the rash was there. I opted not to take her to ER as they are ineffective. I will wait for her drs appt and also wait for her Urology dr to call Mon with her test results.
Her Derm dr did call me and mention possible causes, flushing syndromes, tumor on her kidney etc.
