double stranded dna test

What is a normal ANA test? I read like 1:40. Mine was 1:1280! I'm told it was also speckeled. I had blood drawn for a double-stranded DNA. How long does that take and what is the normal reading for that?
Thanks,
Rebecca

Re: double stranded dna test

On my last bloodwork, the results were back to my doctor's office within a week.

On my lab work, the normal reading for anti-DS-DNA was 0-4 and mine came back at 47.

Good luck with everything and let us know how your results turn out.

Tricia

Re: double stranded dna test

I was sent to a gastroenterologist because my alkaline phosphatase level was very high. He ordered many blood tests. My DS DNA Titer came back 1:10 and my Anti DS DNA result was positive, no number was listed. Also my Beta-2 Microglobulin result was 4984. Any ideas of these results? Thanks!

Re: double stranded dna test

Destiny, hi.

Your first question: I think there are two different measuring systems for ANA. (1) The first is a simple ratio, like the 1:40 you mentioned. I *think* some experts consider 1:30 (and above) to be high. (2) In the second measuring system, the number doubles for each dilution. Examples: 1:80, 1:160, 1:320, 1:640, 1:1280, etc. I *think* some experts consider 1:1280 (and above) to be high.

Your second question, on anti-ds-DNA levels: I'm sorry but I've never seen what's considered high.

Did you get your results back yet? Hang in there! Sincerely, Vee
