Tumors from Steroids - Lupus Message Board

I'm just so upset. I have to have surgery to remove 2 more tumors and numerous little tumors from my liver. The Liver Doc told me they are probably from taking all the steroids and sometimes they were very high doses.

Has anyone else had a similar problem. I just had surgery a little over a year ago to have tumors removed and now I have to do it again.

Hi Kathryn,
I have heard of body builders taking anabolic steroids and developing tumors, but sure didn't know that we could get them! Man! I am sorry that you ahve to go thru this!
How high were the doses you were on and for how long?

Hi Jeri,

Yeah, this is weird for me to understand as well. I guess in the last 12-14 years or so I have had IV Steroids that were at 1000mgs per bag. From there I worked my way down starting at about 60mgs or more at times per day to presently at 6mgs a day maintenance dose for the past 4 years.

I think my Lupus also has something to do with it. I don't think the Doctors have a real clue, myself.

I just dread the surgery in July... I'm psyching myself for it and working on a faster recovery than I had a year ago for the same thing.
