I have Lupus sle, Crohns disease, and a severe case of anemia. My Rhuemy referred me to a Hemotologist for the anemia. My first appt was Friday April 17 and he scheduled me to have a blood transfusion on Friday May 1! I'm somewhat nervous and at first I refused and said absolutly NO!!! After speaking with the doctor and hearing the whole procedure explain, getting family and friends opinion, and a lot of prayer I decided that I would have the transfusion. I just want to know if anyone here has had one and if so what was it like, what should I expect, did it help you? My doctor said it would help a lot with my fatigue. I'm 26, diagnosed with Lupus at age 22, and Crohns at 24. Please, please comment!!!

As a nurse, I have given many blood transfusions. I can speak for my patients and tell you that they feel sooo much better afterwards. I think you have made the right decision and you too will feel better after it is over.

Hi - just wanted you to know I've had a transfusion in Oct 08 and Mar 09...and Ive always felt so much better. Theres nothing to it...just like having a regular IV, you will not feel anything strange. Go ahead and have it and you wont regret it....I also have lupus which has affected my liver and have been diagnosed with anemia of chronic disease. Please let me know how it goes

I was diagnosed with SLE when i was 14 i am now 23, when i was diagnosed fanilly after 3 weeks of well dieing i needed a blood transfusion but because i was half dead mom had to make the choice... all i can say from the experiance is that it is uncomfortable but its better to have it then be ill or in my case dead... the doctor told me that if i didnt accept the blood i wouldnt make it.... anywho you'll be fine so good luck ^_^
