Actually, I was sent by my neurologist to Vanderbilt Movement Disorder center in Nashville TN about 4 yrs ago, where they diagnosed Essential Tremor, and told me about brain surgery that could help. I'm a photographer (age 33), and the shaky hands were becoming a problem. They put me on numerous meds, that didn't help. Over the last 4 yrs I was sick, achy, etc. So my family Dr. sent me to another neuro and he did bloodwork and an MRI to rule out MS. When I went back he said my MRI was normal, but the bloodwork he did for Lupus was positive. So then he sent me to a Lupus specialist at the Kirkland Clinic in Birmingham Alabama, where they did more blood tests, that came back positive and did exams, etc. He said the tremors could be Lupus related, but hasn't ruled out Essential Tremor, although is doubtful that is is ET. I had to close up my photography studio last year, due to the tremors. People always thought i was really nervouse when I would take pics! Thanks for your reply!
I have tremours too, I was looking on this site

That has got to bite. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time with this. Are there any other specialists that they can "pass you along to"? I'm seeing a hematologist later this week that specializes in autoimmune disorders. I'll let you know how that goes and a hematologist is worth a consult.
Are you with your Rheumy - is he/she the BEST in your area? Has he/she consulted with other Rheumys? Have the docs left you hanging with "we're not sure" kind of responses? Have you tried contacting the Lupus Foundation or Arthritis Foundation to see if they can offer any suggestions?
Just a bunch of thoughts. Hope they help... Keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!
The dr I see is supposed to be the best in the state....Lupus specialist. He seems really good, and caring...etc....keeps a close eye on everything. The tremor part he sort of seems unsure of...the Speicialist in TN was sure it was Essential Tremor a few years ago, before I found out I had SLE. My Rheumy said Lupus can cause Tremors but not very common, so he hasn't ruled out the Essential tremor. So I have SLE and ET...but I can't help but wonder if I have ET or not. It is a action tremor where as Parkinsons is a resting tremor...I do feel so much better since I began seeing my Lupus dr....a year ago I was feeling horrible! Could hardly walk my legs hurt so bad, but he has gotten me feeling much better. I go back Aug. 14th....every 3 months now...was going every 6 weeks. Hope your appt goes well! Let me know !
