Question SLE and Laser Hair Removal

Hello,

I have been living with Lupus for 13 years and it has been kept in control (not in full remission but stable). I am getting married this year and would like to get Laser Hair Removal treatments, but need to make sure it won't cause problems for my Lupus/health, first.

I have been searching the web but can't seem to find an answer. Can someone please advise?!?!?!?

Thanks, in advance, for your help!

I am in the same boat. Did you start the treatments? Please do share your experience. Both my doctor and derm have cleared me for it, but I am nervous.

Re: SLE and Laser Hair Removal

Hi. If your drs. see no problem but you're nervous, why not have a tiny area done in an inconspicuous spot, then wait & see before you proceed full-blast? In the years I was worsening, I developed many broken capillaries; you don't want anything unexpected like that!

Congrats on your upcoming marriage. Best wishes, Vee

Re: SLE and Laser Hair Removal

Maybe not in the exact same boat. I got married last year and I wanted to wait till after the wedding incase I had some kind of a bad reaction.

I did have a test spot done yesterday and everythign looks great. I am more concerned about how my skin and lupus may react after 3-5 treatments.

Has anyone with lupus had laser hair removal done?

Re: SLE and Laser Hair Removal

I have sun sensitivity issues and was told by one laser treatment center that they wouldn't perform laser hair removal on me because of my health status. I kind of think that this view might be super-conservative though.

Good luck. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!
