stomach pains - Lupus Message Board

I've been recently diagnosed with SLE and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced pain underneath the rib cage and in between the ribs right after eating? I also seem to burp alot during the day. I'm not on anything but Plaquenil and a daily dose of baby aspirin since February and now these symptoms have just started to act up. Sound familiar to anyone? Was wondering if this was just part of lupus and what I should expect. Thanks!

Sounds familiar to me. I have had Lupus going on 6yrs.
I used to get those symptoms alot the first year.
Sometimes it burned like I had an ulcer after I ate
and maybe I did. Anything can get inflamed when
Lupus is acting up. I don't have as much discomfort
now but I get those symptoms again sometimes in
the evening. The symptom that I have most often
is pain or pressure of my ribs. It kind of feels
like each individual ribs aches inside and out.
My Dr. said it was probably inflamation of the
connective tissue between the ribs. Sometimes an
ice pack helps and sometimes a heating pad. I
don't take much asprin it seems to agravate my
stomach. Good luck to you.

My ribs hurt so much and all the time, most often after I eat they do hurt more....I wonder if it is just the connecting tissue between the ribs and then just the added fullness from food puts some added stress on the ribs and make them hurt even more. I don't think it has too much to do with indigestion for myself, just my tender ribs, that hurt all the time.
