need advice - Lupus Message Board

I have been under some stress. recently dx. Lat night had had the stinging in my hips like bee stings.
Today my left arm is numb alot and my hand. What can I do for relief? Is this a sign of a flare coming?
What can I expect?

The symptoms you describe are just a few of the many symptoms one can experience with Lupus. It doesn't
necesarily mean a flare. The stinging is probably
nerves endings acting up and the numbness is probably
blood vessel spasms. Wierd but not serious unless
you stay numb to the point that circulation is cut off.
I've had both as you describe. Nothing I know to do
as long as you can feel the blood come back to your
hand when you shake it around you should be OK.

I am still discoving what is symtoms of lupus. My arm has come back. but the sinsation is really bothersome.
any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi Ceya !
There are alot of things to consider. One thing would be whether or not your Lupus has a possible overlap with another auto-immune disease. When your ANA was tested what was the pattern, Homogenous, Nucleolar or speckled ?
It is also not unusual for Lupies to develop Carpal Tunnel, an inflamed muscle can impinge nerves in the hands arms muscles thigh or anywhere, if this is happening when cold or under stress it can be Reynauds. Had it all during a four year acute flare.
In any case more testing is required. Please don't neglect to follow-up with a caring Rheumie/Neuro.

Thank you. All info. is so helpful. I do not know the answer to the ANA test. All I know is that mine has tested boarderline each time. The Rhem.said that the symptoms and the long lasting of symtoms is lupus.
