Amen to that. If you already have a problem, the surgery can aggrivate it and put you in a flare. If you suspect you have an autoimmune problem, I'd discuss it with your doctor. I'm not sure, but do they leave staples inside of you? My body would not handle that. I had a henia repair and my body rejected the mesh and I got gangrene. In hindsite, I've always had problems or complications with surgeries so it would be to your advantage to probably be tested before you have the surgery. Hope this helps.
I have beenlooking for a connection to this for some time and could not find anybody with the same issue. I had a gastric bypass in the early 80's. Although I was not dx'd with Lupus until 2001 I felt symptoms for many years. So in my mind, yes, I think there is a connection. Best wishes to you.
