My mother has been living with Lupus for quite a while..more than a few years. There is also a possibliilty that I myself might develop it given several symptoms that had shown up when I was younger, but I haven't been through any kind of tests yet. It was somewhat because of my symptoms that had caused our family doctor to have my mother tested several years later when she started to show signs herself.
Unfortunately it's very difficult for her to talk about it, especially the progress of the dissease itself. I have tried reading about it but the information is very clinical and I don't really understand it all that much, if anyone has any advice to offer or insights to share I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You!!

It is hard to share info about Lupus because it hits
everyone in an individual way. There are books written
by people with lupus that may be helpful to you. Most
good book stores have them. One important thing to
remember with your mother is just to support her and
help around the house. Just because she looks OK doesn't
mean she feels OK. Support her all you can, usually
people with Lupus are quiet about how they feel because
they don't want to seem like they are complaining
all the time.
About the heredity thing. Remember Lupus is an
autoimune disease so you are at a slightly higher
risk for any autoimune diseases not just Lupus.
Help your Mom take care of herself. Urge her to eat
healthy and try to get her to take a nap and to take a walk each day.
