Question Does this sound like Lupus?

I have been bouncing around from forum to forum. I have a myriad of wierd symptoms.
Problems:
Shooting pains (very periodic, and sporatic)
Muscles twitching, cramping, tremor
feeling of burning or bruising of muscles (specifically in back of head, neck and back)
Stiff neck, (constantly feel like I have to crack it)

The twitching was constant for about a year. It has almost completely stopped. But the muscle pain, burning and cramping feelings come and go every few months. Then the neck thing comes and goes every few weeks.

First I thought it was anxiety related since Dr.s told me it was "in my head" I treated it as such, and it never quite went away. Then we suspected thyroid problems, and treated it as such, and it still never quite went away. I really started feeling better about a month ago, then this week the burning muscles and pain in back, neck and head came back???????

I'm at a loss. Could this be fibro? I have had zillions of tests for MS, Lupus, Thyroid function, I had an EMG, MRI and tons of blood work. All normal (with the exception of my ANA) my ratio was 1:640 which is considered pretty high. But the Dr told me people can have elevated ANA and be completely normal or healthy! There is obviously something going on, but it's been a year, and no one can say for sure what.

What do you think?

Kim

Doesn't particularly sound like lupus. But Lupus can
have some weird symptoms. Is it like a shooting burning
pain? Maybe it is an inflamation of the nerves in that area.

No, it's more muscular. Like a burning spasm. It's hard to describe, but it seems to come and go. It's weird! Thanks for the reply though.

I guess the Dr. would know, but if your ANA stays high
the next time you have it tested I would go to a
rhuematologist (sp?). It would seem that something
auto-immune is going on. Sometimes the diagnoses is
hard to get because of the transient nature of
autoimmune disease. Hang in there. And don't let
anyone say its in your head.

I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Could that cause elevations of ANA?

Kim...from all I have read, yes an ANA reading can be caused from Hashi's....it's an auto-immune disease also. My ANA is 1:80....I have had tons of blood work done for Lupus and it's all negative. I think I either have Hashi's or that AND fibromylgia.

I also am in the process of trying to figure out what is going on with me.....it is very frustrating!
