Post Vision and brain cell damage???

Hi, I am at the moment a little obsessed about finding what is wrong with me. I just hope I'm not so obsessed that I find something that isn't there.

I was dx with MS a few months ago. Then I was undx. He told me there is something wrong he just doesn't know what is wrong. I get flair-ups. My flair-ups always have the same symptoms which are usually body aches and low grade fever and joint pain with muscle weakness. But there is always something else with it. Sometimes vision changes and sometimes my kidneys hurt. There are things that are all the time as well. Like memory and confusion.

I just wondered if Vision problems can stem from lupus? Also my MRI's don't show lesions but it does show brain atrophy. Can lupus cause that? And I am sensative to light(vision) and I burn very easily. But I don't get skin rashes. However I almost always have sores in my mouth.

I also get muscle twitches in my hands. It drives me crazy.

I have most of your symptoms too. joint pain in particular. Sometimes it feels like every bone in my body hurts. I don't have light sensitivity. I do have a facial rash (redness) that just won't seem to go away. My rheumatologist told me that many Lupus patients have a problem with jerking movements..... mostly in the hands and legs. I had one episode that lasted probably 3 months. It almost drove me crazy. I can also relate to the brain fog (memory problems and confusion). It's really frustrating. Sometimes I feel like I've had a stroke or something but I know it's Lupus causing it.

Hope you can get a diagnosis soon. It will help ease your mind to find out what is causing your symptoms. Lupus affects so many parts of the body. It's like every day, you wake up to a new problem. I can empathize with you.

Hi, I can definitely confirm that Lupus can be a cause for vision disturbance. It is not unusual for the eye to be the first organ to present the symptoms of an autoimmune and/or systemic condition. Those are the words right out of the mouth of each of my physicians: Neurologist and EYE MD.

My Eye MD personally informed me that he has had eye patients present with the kind of eye condition I have who had lupus and/or sarcoid with only the eye problem.

Lupus, like MS, can cause brain lesions. Have you had your eyes checked to see if you have inflammation and/or optic neuritis?

Lupus individuals are photophobia/photosensitve.
