| Re: my blood test showed anti-double stranded anti-DNA
I am in NO WAY an expert but I know that anti ds dna is ONE of the tests used to diagnosis Lupus. You need 4 criteria (usually). I know that I am on this board because by total accident, this came up on a blood test for me. I asked to have my ANA screened because my sister has Lupus. So they did and my ANA was neg 1:40...the lab wasn't really supposed to look further, but they ran the ds dna test and that was positive! I went to 2 Rheumies...re-did b/w...all negative or normal except this test. But in the absence of symptoms, they say its not Lupus...rather the antibody is showing in my blood due to having a relative with the disease.
My sister's Dr is Dr. Lahita and he concurred with this opinion (based on what she shared). I am, though, ALWAYS waiting for the other shoe to drop. Do you have family with Lupus?
