I have been taking plaquenil and I have noticed that my hair turned to white.
Is this normal side effect ??? and if I stopped may it return to its normal color.!!!!

I have been taking plaquenil for 12 years and I've never heard that before. I feel like my hair has gotten thinner and I feel like it is falling out a little but thats all. Could be something else. Keep searching the boards and you are bound to find some other info on it.

I read about Plaquenil hair bleaching on the Mayo Clinic or Johns Hopkins web site. I was trying to look up something about hair because my hair is white and I've been on Plaquenil for 4 years and my hair is turning yellow on top. I look like a smoker (which I'm not). My hair dresser has tried everything and they came to the conclusion it was my medication, so I started hunting and found out it does cause bleaching. Maybe with white hair it works the opposite!! My hair is also thinning.

I have taken plaquinil for 11 years and I have a lot of white hair but I have found that Herbal dyes such as over the counters work well to cover the white. I stopped once for a year and my hair did not regain it's color. Of course I have really dark hair so I am not sure if any blonde dyes will work to cover the whiteness.
