the pain is more severe from cycle to cycle and the pain used to last 1st & 2nd day now it seems to be the whole 5 days! sometimes 6!
i give up and my body can win ... i am in too much pain to care anymore!
I don't think I've ever posted on the Lupus board. I'm in Limbo. Somewhere between lupus, MS and maybe everything in between! My doctors do nothing but take a wait for the next big symptom to hit and then maybe we'll find it. But they never do. Anyway. I'm sorry to hear you're going through this.
The one thing I do know that is going on with me is early menopause. I'm 39 and my gyno thinks by my hormone levels that I'll be finished by 40. It's hereditary and it used to bother me to think of menopause early, but now I can't wait! I've had the rage you're experiencing for quite a few years now. It was shocking at first, because I've always been pretty mellow. When you talk about your pain, are you meaning cramping, or the pain from your lupus? For me, all my syptoms get alot worse(and they're pretty bad to begin with)about a week before my period. I've read your cycles can make symptoms worse with autoimmune diseases. I also have hashimoto's thyroiditis that they don't treat me for yet, either, and I know that wreaks havoc on the hormones, too.
Sorry to ramble. I don't have any advice, really, I just deal with it all. I hope you're able to get to the doctor. I don't know how old you are, but maybe you're entering perimenopause? You shouldn't be cycling every 2 weeks. When you get to see the doctor, have them run some thyroid tests, also. The thyroid can mess up your period and I think some autoimmune diseases can, too. I wish you the best of luck!
Angel, hi. I had crazy periods, sometimes arriving way too often & lasting for weeks, from age 14 to early menopause. Also, GI & urinary problems, migraines, anemia, rashes, etc. And here's the irony: so much of it disappeared so quickly, once I started Plaquenil. Still get tired & hurt, but not nearly as drastically. Therefore I *adore* Plaquenil! I only say this because I don't recall your saying that you'd ever tried it? I'm all for more "natural" things (good diet, etc.) as adjuncts---as long as nothing you do or take "boosts" your immune system. That's precisely what you don't want, I think.
My rheumie wasn't surprised that my symptoms expanded & crested during perimenopause, because lupus apparently can fire up dramatically during times of shifting hormones. Like we need more issues, huh? Hope you figure out some approaches that help you more. Bye-bye, Vee
phew - a few tramacets later and the pain has reduced from a 3.5 to a 1 ... it is there but i can now feel exactly where it is ...
i have my patience back again and feeling rather like a mushy version of me
but not wanting to wreck destruction on anything, my dogs even avoid me
i am 33 dx SLE at 27. all previous testing my thyroid etc has been normal.
i am petrified to go for state help as i have only ever been to lady docs and with state health it is pot luck ... with my anxiety issues?
the hormones surge usually triggers a lupus flare arthiritis (mostly mini)
during the cycle i have painful abdominal cramps that feels like there is a corkscrew in my 'folopian tubes' that gets twisted, burns and cramps.
