Leg Pain

Hi! I don't formally have a diagnosis, but have a positive ANA and RA and high positive C reactive protein. I won't go into the long story of illnesses, but everything started since I definately had Lyme in 1999- it took four years to get treatment and by then I was really sick.

I have had both knees replaced and am constantly battling illness. But the reason I post today is with this problem. For almost 2 weeks now I have had SEVERE pain below one knee. I have been checked for blood clot, knee surgery, everything and ended up at a neurologist who said he felt it was a flare from the autoimmune disease and put me on neurotin and is increasing it every week. I am also on plaquinel and tegretol for trigeminal neuralgia.

My question is - has anyone else experienced this kind of severe pain like this. It is worse at night and I haven't slept for days. My dr also gave me tylenol with codeine which helps some but not at night very well.

I read about people's numbness and tingling, but this is PAIN. Thank you for your help.

Re: Leg Pain

No, activity doesn't seem to matter. It is much worse at night. I have been taking tylenol with codeine. The neurologist ordered lydocaine patches, but ins. said no. Since I posted, after two weeks of this, it has tapered off somewhat. Still hurts at night but not as bad. I am thinking this is the neurotin kicking in. I was wondering if this was an autommune flare, if any one had encounter this. thanks for your response.
