hi there, quick question.
My mum and dad both have Lupus, but what actually is it? they dont say much about it, and i have tried to search online what it is but it only confuses me lol
they say they have different types but that just confuses me even more.
that's a mightly big question Emma. in simple terms lupus is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks itself. In this case it is largely the joints. there are 2 major types.....SLE (systemic lupus) where the entire body is effected and DLE (discoid lupus) where the skin is the primary part of the body effected. SLE can include organ involvement often the kidneys. other effects are fatigue, low grade fevers and skin rashes. Everyone's lupus is different and the treatments are often unique. is there something specific you are worried about?
