Re: Approximate number of flares do lupus people have a year

Sandy, hi & welcome. I'm only a patient, but I *think* there aren't hard/fixed rules on frequency/duration of lupus flares. Plus I *think* the range of possible symptoms is incredibly broad. Do you have the Dx? For good starter info, see the "stickies" at top of thread list. Hope you post more soon, sincerely, Vee

Re: Approximate number of flares do lupus people have a year

I've been thinking about this since I first read the question. I'm not even sure how to define a flare. I just wake up one morning and decide I must be flaring. and it works the same on the other end. I dont do anything special when I flare except rest so I guess it doesn't matter to me.

Heidiclouser, you're absolutely right about that.

That's the unspeakable thing about lupus..... You can't predict what's to come (flares) let alone explain to others how you feel when you’re experiencing it. The fact that flares for one person may not be present or the same for someone else is frustrating when it comes to treatment. That's the most difficult part for me (not being in control or knowing when I’ll have a flare).

Hate to say this but the only thing that seems to work for me is rest. Limit the activity you do (exercise/monitor diet/etc). I get very fatigued/some nausea/turn pale (I’m a black women & I turn pale :-) lol...

Hang in there…. “This too shall pass”
