Its official

Long story short. Went to the rheumatologist today. Basically, they confirmed what I already knew. It is Lupus. They also said I am probably developing fibro and there are some neurological things going on that they want to keep an eye on. They could possibly be caused by inflammation pushing on nerves but could also be caused by something else. Hopefully, it is not something else.
I started Plaquenil this evening. I can't wait till it starts working. I want my life back so bad. I want to feel like a 'real' mom and be a good mom for my kids and I want to be a good wife.
Looking forward to an uphill battle!!!

Re: Its official

Hi Johnston....sorry for your dx but at least now you know what it is and can start treatment. Plaquenil can take 4-6 months to kick in so don't get discouraged. Some have really good results from it.

Re: Its official

Hi Johnston, I was just diagnosed 2 weeks ago after + yr of symptoms. Im sorry for your bad news but I also understand the sense of relief that comes with finnally knowing whats wrong. I too have some peripheral neuropathy, most likely from lupus as well, the good news is that many people can have a recovery of the nervous system once treatment kicks in. Take care and feel better.

Re: Its official

Johnstonx5, I'm sorry for your dx but glad that you'll now get treatment & ongoing care. Like the others wrote, I was also told Plaquenil takes awhile to reach FULL effect, but I recall feeling partial improvement pretty quickly. Here's hoping same will happen for you! Best wishes, Vee
