Down with kidney infection and bronchitis pls advise+

Saw rheumy in january. I requested a urinalysys because I was having symptoms. They sent me on my way and never told me anything was wrong. Go back for my next visit this past monday and my Rheumy asks me if I ever had the kidney infection taken care of? (it's been 6 weeks since I requested the test. They never let me know it was abnormal nor prescribe meds_ so how am I supposed to know I indeed have an infection? I hurt so bad normally I just wrote it off) The rheumy did write a prescription for an antibiotic after I noticed on my way out of her office that she still hadnt addressed the infection. (Im on MTX amoung the slew of other meds and have been told infections can get out of hand with MTX) Apparently it slipped her mind and yes I did need an antibiotic. And oh by they way- the nurse tells me the next day to stop all rheumy meds until I finish my antibiotics.

I went to see my primary care doctor yesterday. I just feel awful. They did chest xray and I had a breathing treatment (because I fail my breathing test every time). Dx is bronchitis (yay not pneumonia this time!)and on the repeat urinalysys (which Im taking cipro for) shows I have blood in my urine- not related to my menstrual cycle- PCP says it's my kidney stones and that I should follow up with a urologist.

I feel like all these doctors do is recommend I see somebody else. My PCP is an internal med dr. I worked for an internal med doctor for years and he treated lupus and was very knowledgable but mine acts like he just wants to send me on to somebody else.

So, how many doctors should I expect to be seeing? nobody is helping me here. Is there not just 1 doctor to treat me? Rheumy says with my CSN symptoms, kidney issues, muscle wastage etc that I don't fall into a medical category for just one particular medical specialty.

I don't know who I'm supposed to be seeing or when. Is this common or do you usually just see one doctor to treat all your lupus related issues. I feel like they expect me to know what I'm supposed to be doing but never offer to write it down nor help me find doctors to see etc.

If any of you can help guide me through some plan of action I would greatly appreciate it.

also, adding...I got a call back from my PCP dr's nurse. I had seen my chart and thought the urinalysis had abnormalities other than "blood" which was all the PCP told me. My protein was 100mg, I had a lot of blood, and my keytones are abnormal. Yet they just send me out saying I should probably go back to see the urologist.

This was just the usuall doctor office urinalysis. I'm going to do the 24hr urine collection this weekend and see a urologist Monday morning. Maybe I'm over reacting.

uh, no! doesn't sound like you are over reacting!
6 weeks kidney infection - is your rheumy not worried about renal failure? i mean HULLO!

if you are on steroids PLEASE check with as many docs as you can the pamphlet and the pharmacist about cipro - noted tendon issues with steroid patients!

PCP/ GP is the everyday bronchitis flu general stuff
rheumy for lupus, arthritis joint stuff
urologist kidneys,

i start with GP (mine is great) and then he will advise when to see a specialist (usually after a couple rounds of anti bios)
but if you got current issues and seeing specialists, then continue with them as required

Thank you for saying so and for taking the time to reply to me. It is so frustrating when I feel like the doctors just want to get me in and out of the offices as quickly as they can and no one wants to help me understand my game plan- if there is one.
