Hi everyone, I have SLE and am in between doctors. I have an appointment w/ a new Rheummy this week but in the meantime I have been short of breath for last 2 weeks and this morning I am having pains in my chest on just the left side when I inhale. Just 2 weeks ago I was in the ER for shortness of breath and they did a chest X-Ray that turned out clear. My question is : is this "normal" w/ SLE, and if not, the X-Ray didnt show a problem what other test would be appropriate. Thank you guys.
I have chest pains and shortness of breath. According to my doctors it can be part of SLE but it will have an underlying cause such as pleurisy or pericardia. I have slight mitral valve regurgitation and a couple other valves that do the same thing. They told me Lupus can cause the valves to be weak. I also have mild asthma.
They also believe I may be having lupus induced seizures. HATE THEM!!! The right side of my neck and face is feeling tight and tingly as we speak. Feels like my eye is going to droop.
Kinikki, people here have posted about costochondritis, chest wall pain caused by inflammation where ribs connect to sternum (I think). That may be a possibility, but only a dr. could say! GOOD LUCK when you see your new rheumie this week. I hope you get off to a good start. Best wishes, Vee
