Hi, Blessed. From what I've read, lupus can affect the lungs in some acute ways: pleurisy, pneumonia, interstitial lung disease, clots, etc.; of course these are serious & require prompt attention. But much less serious things are possible, too. For example, it can disrupt the autonomic nervous system, causing minor passing episodes of racing heart, gaspy breathing, etc.
Where I live, there's no true flu so far this season---don't know about your area?---but here we have upper respiratory infection going around. And like everyone else, lupus patients are eligible to catch what goes around!
If you have chest pain, or if your labored breathing persists or worsens, of if you feel worse in any other way, I'd just see my doctor. With lupus, I think it's wise to err on the side of caution. Hope you feel better soon, bye, Vee
