I know that alcohol affects everyone differently, and have read that it causes some lupies to flare and others not.
I'm an occasional social drinker and a big night out might be 2 drinks...
Last night I had one vodka cooler. It's a brand I've had before so I'm not concerned about allergies. I've also drank it before with the same medication I'm on now without any problems.
While my face has always flushed when I consume alcohol, I hadn't consumed any since this malar-type rash popped up April 6th (my doc thinks it is - waiting for rheumy). The rash immediately got worse, and this morning, it's particularly bad. On top of that, I feel like the Mack truck that regularly runs me over struck again. I'm tired, sore, my tinnitus is worse and I feel generally unwell.
Do any of you have this reaction to alcohol? Giving it up would not be that difficult for me, but I'm curious.
Gully, I don't, but when I have 1-2 drinks, it's red wine. Post-lupus, anything harder knocks me for a loop, but I don't know whether my lack of tolerance for anything stronger is due to lupus or aging. I do know other women who became less tolerant as they aged.
My for-sure triggers are sun and barometric changes, and I have more up's and down's in spring & summer. Hope you're on the upswing.
