Ok since starting the doxy last Friday I think it was...I am so much worse. I only had eye issues...now I have all kinds of neurological stuff happening. I feel like my arm is being squeezed, my muscles are twitching like crazy, I cannot sleep to save my life...last night was miserable and scary. So much anxiety. Tingling in my feet and hands. Short term memory is worse. Moments of feeling like I am being held down with centrifugal force (vertigo I guess) - I am tired of being in this body of mine - I have only felt this with migraine before but that is only 4 days a year. I don't like this place I am in.

Please tell me you all have been through this. I got my blood panels run for all the coinfections and Lyme. As well, cat scratch fever and Hepa C. Rheumatic panel, vascular panel...I will get info. on Tuesday or Wednesday. I think Dr. Berg feels strongly it is Ehrlichiosis since he gave me a rX for doxy.

I just feel like I am going to lose it. I am tired and emotional. I got through moments where I feel better and am mentally strong. Right now, I am just frustrated and sad.

How much longer before these antibiotics kick in? I know everyone is different but how about a general range...

Oh - in addition to these new symptoms is pain in the back of my left thigh and in my back...it is a dull but hard pain....like some one has lodged a rod in my muscle....sound familiar?

Ncgirl88,

Please hang in there, as it DOES take time for the Doxy to work, trust me on that. Things will get better, I had to take Doxy for 1 year and I didn't start feeling better until months later. I lost the use of my legs, the pain was unbearable so I took Advil.

I had the headaches also besides other ailments, but they got better also. I don't know about your Hepa C. Rheumatic panel, vascular panel, is it possible you need to take more than just Doxy? If I were in your shoes, I would get another opinion from a reputable Doctor just to find out.

NCgirl,
I didnt' start noticing much improvement with the doxy but I really did with rifampin. Just be strong, you will start to improve and remember take to take it easy. The lyme patient really pays for working too much or over exertion. Exercise, and give yourself time to rest. Don't punish yourself or say your lazy. You are sick, and you need time to heal. God bless you, and I hope you start feeling better soon.

Thanks Lyme5 and Deejavu,

This morning was horrible. I woke up and had rapid heart beat, sharp chest pain (intermittant), sweaty palms, nausea, and felt like I was getting a cold. All the neurological symptoms are nonexistant now. At least I am not having those MS like symptoms so far today. Of course first thought is to head to the ER but I know that will be a wasted trip. I was so scared I was having a heart attack. I called the ID doctor that I saw yesterday and he got on the phone. He said it sounds like Hexing and a reaction possibly to the Doxy. He suggested I go off of it for a few days and see. If better than wants to switch me to Amoxicillin. I am a little fearful of doing this because I was having sharp chest pains in the morning and then after going on the doxy they had seemed to resolve. I am just afraid at this time I am developing an infection in my heart valves.

I am miserable, scared, and fed up. I do like this ID doctor. He is the best doctor I have seen.

I am taking it easy - I don't have a choice at this point.

Have others experienced these sharp chest pains on the doxy? I know people are afraid to give advice in this arena since it could be heart attack.

Argh! I just want it to be over.
