How Do You Know lyme is gone

After two months of i.v. antiobiotics and two months of oral antibiotics I am now doing very well. I only had the lyme in my knees - with pain and swelling. I had no other symptoms.

So now I am finished the treatment. My knees are about 70% better and doctor said that the stiffness and little bit of pain I have is the result of the three surgeries I had to my knees before the doctors discovered it was lyme.

Wondering how I can know for sure that this lyme is gone. The lyme disease never showed up in my blood during the entire time - only in the fluid they took when they drained my knees.

Should I go back to orthopedic doctor and see if he can drain the fluid again. My knees are no longer swollen with fluid so dont even know if that is possible. And if never showed up in blood probably wont show now.

Re: How Do You Know lyme is gone

That is interesting Ciarra that they tested the fluid in your knees. You are so lucky if it just stayed there. If that is the case I find that fascinating and hope that your doctors or LLMD documents it and studies that a bit. I wonder what causes different types of disemination in different people - is it different physiology or different versions of the lyme bacteria? Interesting to ponder...

I am glad you are feeling well and have possibly erradicated the lyme
