Feeling totally scared!! - Lyme Disease Message Board

Hi

,

Most of you know my Dh has been unemployed for a month. Well, only 1 call back so far and no job.

He is really getting concerned(as I am also). He went today for an orientation for over the road driver. He would be gone 5 weeks at a time. I know that we would miss each other and of course he would miss the kiddos(we have 3...17,8,and4). My fear is now...could I really do IT ALL by myself?

My parents thing he should do this. They assure me they will help out with the kids...but in my mind I am thinking right in between all your trips and vacations???

I am afraid for him to take the job(1 yr contract) and then on the other hand I am afraid for him not to take it. What if something else doesn't come along?

Any feed back is welcome. I really need some guidance here. I don't want to come across as being weak.

I feel for you. Decisions like this are never easy and no one can tell you what to do.

I manage this horrible disease plus 2 little ones all by myself - and we are just fine.

Remember that prayers for guidance never go unanswered.

My husband has been traveling for his job for the last 4 1/2 years. He is gone 3 to 4 days every week. It's been tough but not impossible. When I got really sick in January I did have to humble myself and ask some family for help until I could get back on my feet, but for the most part I do it on my own. I have 3 ages 8,7, and 2. I would talk to your parents and take them up on their offer, but be specific on what your needs will be, if you know. Then they will know what to expect and so will you. If there's one thing that I've learned it's that you can't expect people to know what you need from them. You have to spell it out even if it's hard to do. I wish you luck and you are in my prayers.

Talk to other women whose hubby's travel. They were right on the money with me--it takes an incredibly strong marriage to with stand this, unfortunately. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but it was a huge downfall in mine.

H found another woman due to the false feeling of it feeling "easier" away from home, than coming home to a sick child and everyday problems. Thank God, in my case, b/c it hurried a bad situation along and I am so happy for the change--so for me it was meant to be. But still a difficult situation during the divorce for all of us--especially the kids.

It is a hard thing to do--not feel a little "I SO did NOT sign up to be on my own when I married you!!" when they come home. But--if you can do it--keep up communication, and if you trust eachother, then you can make it work. Hard decision!! I feel for you. I will pray you get the right answer from God, and know it for sure in your heart what His plan is. Peace. --Laurie

Hi girls!!

I spoke with 2 different drivers of 2 different companys last night. Got a lot of questions answered.

This company(which is known to be one of the best) has 3 weeks of co paid training...he's not paid but the training is. Then he would have 8 weeks out with a driver and he would be paid $350 a week..b4 taxes.

Then he signs a 1yr agreement and drives for the company for 1 yr. Long haul only coming home every 8 weeks(that's with begging). Which during that time making 800-850 a week...b4 taxes and insurance.

We also figured out (or tried too) his expenses being out. We would be lucky to bring in about 350 a week. I know for sure that we can't live on that. Plus I would have to find someone to mow the yard and take care of things around the house.

After a long talk we decided it would not work for us for him to drive that way. We are looking at different options with driving and being home at night. Much better idea.

I am praying something great comes along..very very quickly!!
