Cuteheart--
Have you had any dental work done recently? What about a congenital heart defect of any kind? If both answers to these questions are no, then it is most likely a bacterial infection causing this--treated with none other than ABX.
Lyme is a bacterial infection. Your doc need s to add another ab to supplement what you are already on. Believe it or not, Mark was on massive doses of abx, but they would not treat strep--one had to be added if he got a strep infection.
So it's interesting, but something reg. docs and cardiologists do well--get you on the right abx for the job. If you are on treatment for Lyme, you could get one right away from your doc that will treat this present infection-and just add it to your regimen until the abx for the endocarditis are done.
Most often, this is just an infection from a bacterial agent--and you already know you have a bacterial agent running thru out your body. Just get it taken care of quickly--b/c you don't want it to cause any damage to your heart valves or the heart itself. It should be fine, and this is a quite common condition, as heart conditions go.
I know its scary--but you should be just fine with some abx. Let us know how it goes--and get someone to see you tomorrow. Kickand scream and act psycho if you have to--but get someone to take you seriously about getting on some abx that cover a probable infection of the heart valve b4 damage occurs. Good luck.
